Human beings are complex creatures and therefore, this complexity has led to many of them to reflect on the universe and how it was created. Different theories have been postulated which try to create an understanding of the formation of the universe and all that lives in it. Therefore, life has remained a puzzle to many as they do not understand it even after being directed by holy books. To unravel these puzzles of life, myths have been formed to ensure that human beings do not live in awe. This paper focuses on procrastination in creating understanding on how the world came into existence.
Procrastination is a complex psychological behavior that affects everyone in various degrees. The root of procrastination is depression, phobia and self-esteem. Every human being in one way or another develops phobia in what happens around them. One of the phobias that people have is in such things such as creation of life and the world. This phobia has triggered a lot of people or researchers to yearn to carry out investigations on how nature came into being. Such investigations demonstrate the sincerity in the Eliade views in the myth of eternal return that every creation repeats the pre-eminent cosmologic art (the creation of the world) (Eliade & Willard, 1954, p. 13). There is some sought of fear and depression in the hearts of people and this fear and curiosity is what is driving them to engage in these researches just to find the clue of the person that is behind the architecture of creating the earth that is so complex. Sometimes, this fear directs people to behave in certain ways that they themselves cannot explain. For instance, the fear of failure, which is one of the causes of procrastination, drives people into making choices that they come to regret later. Many people have died in different experiments as they attempt to prove that they have the ability to prove to the world and the creators of the world. They subject themselves to risk and most of them have failed terribly. The drive has been to show the world that indeed they have the powers and all that it takes to prove their point. They fear to be tagged as failures. This is a problem that most human beings have. They do not accept to be disapproved and therefore, they do whatever it takes to ensure that they become successful and prove to the other people opposed to their views or school of thought wrong.
Procrastination also drives people into becoming perfectionists. Perfectionists are people that will spend considerable time engaging in something to ensure that it achieves the highest levels of success and conform to what they feel to be right. People want to know exactly the genesis of the world and they want to achieve this by inspecting and searching for every trace that will lead them to this. Century has elapsed but because of this nature of people, they have never felt tired. More research is still being collected and analyzed for them to achieve the results that they want to achieve. The yearning for perfectionist seems to rhyme with the Eliade’s quote that ‘whatever is founded has its foundation at the center of the world since the creation itself took place at the center’ (Eliade & Willard, 1954, p. 18). The world was founded by someone who is unknown to the people. Therefore, someone must have been behind it and therefore, this is what has triggered human being to find out. Even though, they have done various researches and conducted thousands of studies, there seems to be differences among them on exactly who the founder of the world is this continued research and urge for knowledge is a sign of depression, phobia as well as to ensure that they come out as perfectionist.
The phobia has also led to some people becoming de-motivated making up their mind about the creation of world. Their fears and anxiety have been slowed down with others turning to religious and agreeing to the teachings of the Holy bible. Those who do not believe in the story of creation have held on to their ideologies and continue to be pagan and still vest their hopes in the numerous studies ongoing. This is because psychological inclination of people is different. The Eliade trade theory on human beings categorizes levels of existence into two; One of the levels is scared and the other is the profane world. Those that are in agreement with the sacred school of thought believe that God , mythical ancestors, gods, and or any other beings is behind the architecture of creation of the world (Eliade & Willard, 1954, p. 28). Therefore, they believe that reality and identity is acquired depending on the extent that they participate in the transcendent reality. Therefore, those people that agree to this school of thought will only conform to this school in reaching a conclusion on as to whether something is real or not. On the other hand, those that are in the opposite school of profane do not believe in any of these. They only believe that, the world became into existence with default. They do not owe any allegiance to any thing. Therefore, to them, the universe was formed as default and therefore they have no explanations.
In reference to this context, the reality of the matter is that, the world came into existence because of some forces. People believing that there is God or gods or any powers that made the world to be formed have therefore managed this phobia. Those that are religious have proved this through the teachings of the creation from their holy books. For instance, Christians have come into conclusion that the world came into being through the power of invisible God. He created the world and everything under it through His powers and mighty. Therefore, God is the creator and is the one that reigns over everything that lives under it. Miraculous things that happen, that are beyond the conscience of human beings have supported this fear and anxiety.
In conclusion, it is therefore true that human behaving have procrastination. Their psychological functioning is inclined in a different way. They live in fear and distress and cannot comprehend what goes around them. The notion of creation of world is an example of myth that many have not been able to unravel. However, through teachings of Christ and reference for holy books, this phobia has been managed. The creation of the world can therefore be authoritatively argued to be an architect of some supernatural being, gods or any other beings as people may think. Eliade view that whatever is founded has its foundation supports this paradigm.
