Negative long term effects from bullying.

My topic for the final paper is about bullying. My main focus is not about the cause of bullying in school but is about the long term effect on those kids affected by bullying- those who bully, those who are bullied and those who witness bullying.
Bullying usually occurs in primary and junior schools. Bullying leads to many negative outcomes which would affect those kids for their entire life. According to research, kids who are bullied would have higher percentage to experience negative physical, school and mental health issues. They may be more likely to experience depression and anxiety, increased feeling of sadness and loneliness. They would become scared to go to school, scared to join in social groups and also lead to decreasing on academic achievement, they will be more likely to skip or drop out of school. (Stop Bullying Org. 2012) As they grown up, they would perform high levels of emotion that indicate vulnerability but low levels of resilience. (DOET, 2013)
School need put more emphasis on those kids who bully others. Kids who bully others can engage in violent and other risky behavior into adulthood. Kids with disposition towards acts of violence acts of violence from childhood will be more likely to get into fights, vandalizes property and have higher levels of criminal convictions. According to a recent Victorian research has shown that bullying perpetration in year 10 is associated with an increased likelihood of theft, violent behavior and being drunk. (DOET, 2013)
Not only those kids bully or being bullied, but also those who witness the bullying will get negative affected. After they witness the bullying for the first time, fear of being at school will occur; missing or skipping school would the most possible results. (Stop Bullying Org. 2012) They will feel guilty for acting nothing when bullying happen and this will also lead to mental health problems including depression and anxiety and then leads to a higher likelihood of using tobacco, drugs and alcohol. (DOET, 2013)
In this paper, I will focus on the negative long term effect on those kids who are affected by bullying behaviors and talk about social awareness and prevention of bullying.

Five Concepts:
1. Prejudice: Normally, bullying happens while one kid has prejudice upon another kid. The prejudice would lead to language conflicts and tend to be bullying.
2. Folkways: in some school which has bad folkways, kids need to do something bad such as bullying to gain the acceptation of some student group like brotherhood. They have no choice to say no to those bad actions or otherwise they will be the bullying targets or somewhat else.
3. Anomie: kids from those families which have family violence would be more likely to bully others in school. They don’t have a good model to learn from in their family.
4. Ethnocentrism: as known as racial discrimination, it may also become one of the reason that lead to bullying. Normally, the victims of bullying which is occurred because of this situation are mostly African Americans or Asian Americans.
5. Latent function: bullying behavior would have a lot of negative effects on all the kids who are affected by it and some of those negative effects would never go even after they grown up.
