Bode Miller, 36, won custody of the baby boy temporarily after he broke up with Sara McKenna, 27, a former marine and firefighter. Miller is now a skier, and there are indications that the American laws favored Miller and not McKenna raising the questions on women’s rights. Miller was a star in the Olympic ski for Alpine racing. The two met in San Diego at the Kelleher International.  McKenna moved to New York, where she enrolled in Columbia University under G.I. Bill supported. The legal battle has attracted attention of diverse stakeholders, particularly on the rights attached to pregnant women in making life and travel choices. Women have protected liberty by the constitution and that putative fathers have neither abilities nor rights to restrict pregnant women. McKenna is fighting back for her baby boy now aged nine months through New York City Family Court after ascertain that her rights were violated. Miller and McKenna experienced uncooperative relationship; even naming the child was a court battle. The visiting rights and the custody of the baby will be critical to both parties and the lobby groups (Eckholm, 2013).

The rights of women in China are mainly violated, although the incidences are reducing with modernization. The article reflects on Joy Chen who is the author of the book stating that “Do not marry before thirty years” (Stout, 2013), Wu Qing was a former Deputy at the Haidian People’s Congress and Leta Hong Fincher a scholar at Tsinghua University on issues affecting women. Mao era argued that women held half the sky, a phrase commonly interpreted as equal rights for women and men, although there are other interpretations of the phrase depending on context. The issue of women ‘leftovers’ in China is causing mixed reactions, these are educated women who are still single, and Chinese society values early marriages. Chinese laws should be aligned more to deal with the rights of women. Men and women should embrace equal human rights as part of propelling equality between men and women (Stout, 2013).
