Nursing an ethically good activity
The activity of nursing is ethically good because the nature of this job requires application of ethics to facilitate in meeting their obligation of providing care in contrast to curing. Nurses do this through exploration of the link between the patients to the nurse who is providing this care. Ethics forms an integral segment in the nursing foundation. The center of focus for the nursing activity is the welfare of the patients who are injured, lacking social justice, sick as well as vulnerable. The concern of the nurses is personified in the need to offer nursing care to people and the entire community as well. With the contribution of nursing in health care, the focus is on preventing illnesses from occurring, alleviating suffering together with protecting, restoring and promoting health as they care for the people, groups of people, families as well as the entire community. The work of nurses enables the people to make informed decisions concerning the type of treatment that they will receive. The work of the nurses is concerned with addressing intricate ethical issues as well as human rights issues and this makes the practice nursing to be an ethically good activity. In the course of their duty, nurses are responsible for their ethical practice standards. Through observation of ethical principles, the actions of the nurses facilitate for respecting the dignity of their clients (Armstrong, 2007).
Nursing practice is usually associated with compassion together with inherent dignity, uniqueness of the people, their worth, personal attributes, and the types of health issues and lack of restrictions to socioeconomic status of the individuals requiring care. The primary commitment of the nurse is demanded by the patient. The role of the nurse relates to the promotion, advocating for and protecting the safety, the health as well as the rights that are demanded by the patient. Nurses take personal responsibility for their practice and decide on the most suitable tasks delegation that is consistent with their obligation in order to offer the best possible patient care (Armstrong, 2007). Nurses play a pivotal role in the establishment, improvement as well as maintenance of a favorable environment and good condition for health care so that the patients’ can access the highest quality of care and which is consistent with the professional values. Nurses also contributes significantly in the assessment as well as assurance of the most responsible and appropriate application of interventions that avoids a situation of unwanted treatment as well as unwarranted suffering to the patient.
