The following are the ten principles that comprise the UN Global Compact:
Human Rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Your assignment is as follows:

With regard to WalMart Stores, Inc., evaluate the company’s approach to CSR with respect to each area that comprises the UN Global Compact. Questions that should be addressed: (1) What does the company say it is doing? (2) What is it actually doing? (3) Based on what the company is actually doing, is there is a possible impact on the bottom line? (4) Do you have suggestions for the future? (5) How do these suggestions relate to “Doing well, by doing good?” All of these questions require outside research.

• This paper should not exceed 12 pages (double spaced, 12 point type, 1 inch margins, Times Roman Font) excluding any title page, references and appendices. I will stop reading and grading at the end of the 12th page.
