What Supports Motivation for Weight Loss and Wellness Behaviors? Discuss

Write a newspaper or magazine-style article that represents an understandable, compelling, informative, concise synthesis of the research on your topic. Be evidence-based and objective. Check the grading/self assessment sheet (below). When you are finished:

• Self score your paper using the self assessment rubric below (paste this into the comment section of the assignment submission page).
• Length should be 1,500-2,000 words not including references or quotes. It should be double spaced, 12 point font, with 1 inch margins. It does not need to be formatted with newspaper-style columns.
• References should be in AMA style. However, if you’re accustomed to another style, check with your instructor.

5. Your article will automatically be submitted to SafeAssign, checker. Know that your references will look like they are plagiarized but that is not a problem. What is a problem is if big chunks of your paper were copied and pasted from other sources. Quotes in quotation marks should be used minimally and are, in some cases, okay and even good but only if they are brief; if they could not possibly be said in a better way; and are extremely compelling. In most cases however, it’s best to put things into your own words.

Scoring Rubric: (100 possible points)

• 10 points: Outline and abstracts were turned in by the due date, following instructions.
• 20 points: Presented to the class and in discussion, within the time allotted, following all instructions, looking professional, and making an understandable, evidence-based, compelling, creative, image-rich presentation.
• 35 points: Writing quality, references, and SafeAssign score. To what degree is the article compelling, catchy, well organized, original, and creative? How well does it follow standard writing conventions for newspaper articles, paragraphs, spelling, grammar, and references? Know that if all or much of your article was copied from other sources, you could receive a zero for the entire assignment.
• 35 points: Interpretation of research: To what degree does the article reach logical conclusions using recent research to support that position? Is the reporting unbiased in that both sides of a controversy are objectively discussed? To what extent is the article merely a summary report or personal opinion versus a thoughtful, persuasive “case” for some position using research to back the position?
